It is not mandatory. Cerro Toco is considered low difficulty and is ideal as a first high-altitude summit. However, good physical condition is recommended.

The summit is at 5,600 meters above sea level.
3. Is the altitude noticeable?
Yes, exceeding 5,000 m can cause altitude effects. It is recommended to do prior acclimatization tours in San Pedro before this ascent.
4. How long does the hike take?
The ascent takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, and the descent between 1 and 1.5 hours.
