What temperatures can I expect on this tour?
The average minimum temperature is -6 °C in summer and -20 °C in winter, so we always recommend bringing very warm clothing.
What is the maximum altitude reached on this tour?
The maximum altitude reached is 4,200 m. For good acclimatization, we recommend eating light and drinking plenty of water in the days before the tour. Because of the altitude, we suggest leaving this activity for the end of your stay in San Pedro de Atacama.
On which days of the year is this tour available?
This tour runs every day of the year, except on January 1st and December 25th.
What type of vehicle is used for this activity?
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (or similar) for 16 people.
How far in advance should I book the activity?
We accept bookings up to 48 hours in advance. However, spots are limited and always subject to availability, so we recommend booking as early as possible.
What does breakfast include?
Breakfast includes tea, coffee, milk, juice, bread, ham, cheese and jam.
Can I get close to the fumaroles?
Getting close to the fumaroles is not advisable, as you risk falling into boiling water. For this reason the site has marked trails that you must stay on to avoid accidents.
Is it possible to bathe in the rustic hot pool?
Yes, as long as the rustic pool is open, which is only confirmed during the visit, once you are at the geothermal field. We therefore recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel and sandals just in case.
Why is there an age restriction for this activity?
The age restriction for this tour is set by the community that manages the park, and no exceptions are possible.
